Vietnam and Russia have signed a $500-million trade agreement, the largest since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.

Under the agreement, Vietnam is to provide Russia with 260,000 tons of rice, 10,000 tons of coffee and thousands of tons of vegetables and meat, the state-run news agency said.

In return, Vietnam is to receive half a million tons of Russian fertilizer and 200,000 tons of steel, the agency said.
