Ross Perot Jr., son of the Texas billionaire, has been acquitted of carrying a concealed gun through a checkpoint at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

The jury reached its verdict on the misdemeanor charge Tuesday after deliberating for about 50 minutes.

Perot testified that during a business trip in May he had put a pistol in a carryall bag, but had forgotten about it. Perot said he kept the loaded .380-caliber automatic pistol in his office because of threats to him and his family. He said he put it in his bag to take home to clean.

Jury foreman Rod Korsmo said the panel of six decided a “prudent man” would not knowingly carry a weapon through a checkpoint.
