THOUSAND OAKS : Job Fair Planned at The Oaks Mall
Anyone 16 years or older can apply at one location for jobs that are open in stores throughout The Oaks mall on Monday and Tuesday.
The mostly retail jobs include temporary and permanent and full- and part-time positions, said Dolores Brum, coordinator of the job fair and a job services representative at the California Employment Development Department.
Brum urged applicants to wear clothing appropriate for an interview.
“The biggest complaint of employers is that the kids don’t come dressed appropriately,” Brum said.
About 300 jobs were available at the Thousand Oaks mall before the first two days of the job fair were held earlier this month. About half the positions were filled, Brum said. A few stockroom and food service jobs remain open, but the majority are sales jobs, Brum said.
Employers have filled out job orders detailing whether they want experienced workers only or are willing to train people. They also listed shifts open and the number of openings.
Applicants are screened by interviewers from the EDD and the Conejo Youth Employment Service, Brum said. Those who match the job openings are recommended to employers for further interviews, Brum said.
The fair runs from noon to 6 p.m. at the Broadway personnel office.
