TERROR RELIVED: Jill Anderson was a nurse at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo last year when her own 14-month-old son was brought in, almost drowned from falling into a Jacuzzi. She and her husband, Jon, of Laguna Niguel, will relive the incident there today, along with hospital staff and the doctor who saved the boy, in a “Rescue 911” TV re-enactment, to be aired later. . . . Says spokeswoman Andrea Pronk: “We want to help the TV show, because it will help get the message out that these incidents are preventable .”

DANGER ZONES: Drownings continue to be the leading cause of injury death for Orange County children, county officials said Monday. . . . So far this year, 16 children under the age of 5 have drowned here: 14 in pools or spas, and most of those at their own homes. One serious problem, says Dr. James R. Greenwood, deputy director of county health, comes when “children are last seen indoors and exit through a sliding door.” County pool/spa safety information: (714) 834-5728.

THE FIGHTER: Professional golfer Heather Farr, 28, who died over the weekend near her Phoenix home, was extremely sick when she came to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach three months ago for cancer surgery. But she still took time to help Dr. Robert O. Plowman with a tip about his golf game. . . . Farr left Hoag stabilized, but complications developed. Says Plowman: “Her will to fight this was intense, very contagious. We all felt it. I’m pleased we were able to get her back to her home in Phoenix; she very much wanted that.”

CONVENTIONAL WAY: You think it’s easy booking 350 conventions a year into the Anaheim Convention Center? Local planners got excited that the Orange County Transportation Authority would play host to a national group of 5,000 transit professionals there in 1996. But the national group won’t let the OCTA solicit corporate members for sponsor money to help defray $220,000 in host expenses. Monday, OCTA agreed to pay it and will try to raise the extra funds on its own.
