ADDIS ABABA : Reconcile--or Else
Representatives of all Somalia’s political factions, delegates from the United States and other international donor countries and observers from other African and Arab countries are to gather in the Ethiopian capital Monday for a crucial, U.N.-sponsored conference on the future of the embattled African Horn nation.
Officials have described the session as perhaps the last chance for Somalis to resolve their differences and chart a joint political course in time to prevent a return to civil war after the scheduled departure of American and other international peacekeeping troops early next year.
