Benny the Jet Looks for Kicker to Career
International kickboxing legend Benny (the Jet) Urquidez of Sherman Oaks returns to the ring a final time tonight at the Mirage Hotel to battle Yoshihisa Tagami of Japan for the vacant World Kickboxing Assn. light middleweight title. Urquidez’s last major bout was more than four years ago in Tokyo.
Urquidez, 41, has five world championships, a 57-0 record and 49 knockouts. Tagami, the WKA Japanese champion, has a 20-0 record.
Ricky (the Mongoose) O’Kane of Van Nuys goes against Vince Ross of Canada for the intercontinental welterweight championship in a preliminary bout.
