Wausau Fined $200,000 for Discriminatory Pricing: Wausau and Wausau Underwriters Co., two Wisconsin-based insurers, agreed to pay the fine for discriminating against small businesses, California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi announced. The insurers, which together write annual premiums of about $140 million in the state, offered insurance discounts to companies but quoted higher rates to small firms, in violation of the anti-discrimination provisions of the Proposition 103 insurance initiative, Garamendi said. He said such discrimination turned up in three separate audits by the Insurance Department.
