A deadbeat dad whose Rolls-Royce was auctioned two years ago to cover his delinquent child-support payments is scheduled to return to court this week for the same reason, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said Monday.

Investigators arrested Marshall Rose in the San Fernando Valley on suspicion of failure to provide. Rose is to be arraigned today in Los Angeles Municipal Court.

At the time of his arrest Saturday, Rose owed his ex-wife Karen Rose, of Calabasas, about $29,000 in child-support payments, said Barbara Catlow, assistant director of the district attorney’s Bureau of Family Support Operations. Rose had not paid child support since November, 1992, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors seized Rose’s Rolls-Royce as well as a Mercedes-Benz convertible and a four-wheel drive vehicle in July, 1991, after he had fallen behind in support payments by more than $200,000.

The district attorney’s office auctioned off Rose’s Rolls-Royce to a Hollywood car dealer for $50,500, which at the time was $7,000 under the car’s book value.

Money from the sale went to Karen Rose, the mother of two daughters, who was disabled by a spinal operation to ease chronic back pain, prosecutors said.

Investigators had been tipped off that Marshall Rose, who has lived in Hawaii since last year, would be in town Saturday by his ex-wife.
