Shawn Bradley had the best game of his rookie season, getting 17 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots as the Philadelphia 76ers survived blowing another big lead and defeated the Chicago Bulls, 95-88, in overtime Wednesday night at Philadelphia.

“I got my confidence up early in the game, and it got the whole team going,” said the 7-foot-6 Bradley, who scored eight points in the first quarter. “This season has been up and down, but you get tired of the downs. I don’t like being down.”

Shooting only 30.8% from the field going into the game, Bradley made seven of his first 12 shots before missing five of his last six. But his biggest contribution was on defense, where he altered several shots in addition to his six blocks.

The 76ers went into the game with a four-game losing streak, and in the last two losses to San Antonio and Seattle, they lost double-digit advantages. The Bulls rallied from a 12-point deficit to force overtime, but Dana Barros scored six of his 20 points in overtime as Philadelphia also ended Chicago’s four-game winning streak.

Tim Perry led the 76ers with a season-high 23 points, including a dunk with 1:47 to play in overtime that gave Philadelphia a 91-88 lead.

B.J. Armstrong scored 24 points and Scottie Pippen 15 for the Bulls.

Atlanta 105, Detroit 97--The Hawks, led by Dominique Wilkins with 20 points, won their 11th consecutive game, one shy of the franchise record.

The loss at Auburn Hills, Mich., was the Pistons’ seventh in a row.

The Hawks won 12 in a row from Dec. 8, 1968, to Jan. 3, 1969.

Mookie Blaylock had 11 points and 13 assists for the Hawks.

Joe Dumars had 29 points and Olden Polynice scored 18 and had a career-high 25 rebounds for the Pistons.

Utah 113, Washington 91--Karl Malone had 27 points and 14 rebounds at Salt Lake City as the Jazz won its fifth in a row and dealt the Bullets their fifth consecutive loss.

Tom Chambers added 24 points for the Jazz. He had five points during a 16-4 run as Utah pulled away from a 77-75 lead.

Rex Chapman and rookie Calbert Cheaney led the Bullets with 16 points each.

Boston 129, Sacramento 115--Sherman Douglas had a career-high 21 assists as the Celtics dealt the Kings their eighth consecutive loss and their 15th in a row at Boston Garden.

The Kings have not won in Boston since Jan. 17, 1979. They were still based in Kansas City then, and Larry Bird was a college senior.

Douglas, who also scored 18 points, tied Bob Cousy for the third-best passing game ever by a Celtic. Cousy had 21 assists against St. Louis in 1960. The only better assist totals were by Cousy (28) in 1959 and Nate Archibald (23) in 1982.

Kevin Gamble had 23 points to lead six Celtics in double figures, including Jimmy Oliver’s career-best 21 points. It was the highest scoring game this season by Boston.

Mitch Richmond had 34 points for Sacramento and Lionel Simmons added 22, while leading the Kings with 13 rebounds.

Portland 114, Minnesota 111--Cliff Robinson scored 31 points at Minneapolis and the Trail Blazers won despite the best game of Isaiah Rider’s brief career.

Rider, the fifth pick in the June draft, started in place of injured guard Doug West and scored 30 points, the most by a Minnesota player this season.

Terry Porter had 25 points, including six of the last seven points for the Trail Blazers.

After Christian Laettner made two free throws to cut Minnesota’s deficit to 112-111 with 2.6 seconds left, Porter made two free throws.

Seattle 109, San Antonio 107--Gary Payton scored 25 points, including the go-ahead basket with 2:12 to play in overtime, as the SuperSonics won at San Antonio, ending the Spurs’ eight-game winning streak.

Seattle has won five in a row and at 15-1 has the second-best record in the NBA.

Payton’s basket broke a 103-103 tie and Ricky Pierce added a 19-footer with 1:00 left for a four-point lead.

Pierce, playing despite bone spurs in his foot, scored 24 points.

David Robinson, who scored 39 points and had 15 rebounds, pulled San Antonio within 107-105, but the SuperSonics held on despite missing four free throws in the final 15 seconds.
