Pasadena : Survey of Pill-Taking Habits

Share

The U.S. Administration on Aging has given a $200,000 grant to the Senior Care Network of Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena to study the pill-taking habits of older persons in the community.

The high number of medications taken regularly by older persons increases the likelihood of medication misuse, which can seriously affect health, said Monika White, principal investigator of the project.

The two-year medication management project also will be conducted in Long Beach and Los Angeles, White said. Seniors’ medication problems will be evaluated by teams of case managers, geriatric specialists, pharmacists and volunteer nurses.
