Coverage of Family Was Encouraging

* I would like to express my appreciation to The Times and especially to Frank Messina.

Your article “Community Rallies To Support Family” (Nov. 23) was encouraging. Cancer is a foe to the entire Family of Man. When cancer strikes in or near your immediate family, the impact is devastating. Seeing our loved ones suffer brings a certain awareness of all humanity.

The drawing together of people, to help the Vlad family, proves there is hope for a society drifting apart. People reaching out and lending a hand is heartwarming for all concerned, those giving as well as those receiving.

I hope the advances made in the battle against cancer will continue. We must continue to support local and national cancer foundations.
