Porsche Issues Recall for Brake, Heating Defects: A combined 12,495 Porsche 911 cars are being recalled in separate actions. Porsche Cars North America Inc. said it is aware of 12 engine fires related to the heating system defect but knows of no accidents from the brake problem. The first recall involves replacing a resistor for the rear heater blower on 11,346 Porsche 911 Carrera vehicles from the 1989-92 model years. The second recall involves replacing a hydraulic brake pressure valve on 1,149 Porsche 911 Turbo cars from the 1991-92 model years and 1992-93 Porsche 911 America Roadsters. Porsche said it discovered the brake defect during routine product testing.
