Max A. Hutto, 82; Radio Director of ‘Fibber McGee and Molly’

Max A. Hutto, 82, pioneer radio director whose credits included the classic “Fibber McGee and Molly” and “Father Knows Best.” During World War II, Hutto was a reporter for Armed Forces Radio. He conducted the first interview with Paul Tibbets, pilot of the Enola Gay, after the release of the atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan. In the late 1940s, Hutto moved into directing popular radio serials, including “Marvin Miller, Storyteller” and “The Penny Singleton Show.” On Dec. 10 in La Jolla.
