GM to Raise Prices: Taking advantage of strengthening U.S. vehicle sales and the strong Japanese yen, General Motors Corp., plans a second price hike on its 1994 model vehicles, effective Jan. 3. For GM cars, prices will increase an average of 0.8%, or $164, from introductory 1994 prices announced in July. Prices on GM trucks will climb an average of 0.6%, or $131, the U.S.’s largest auto maker said. The higher prices, coming midway through the 1994 model year, mean that GM’s 1994 cars are 2.3% more expensive than in 1993, while trucks now cost 2.8% more.
