PERSONAL HEALTH : White Christmas? No, Let It Shine

Share

So you think you’d feel better about this joyous holiday season if it felt Christmasier --if you were thigh high in snow and Jack Frost nipped at your nose?

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

According to a poll by ABC News and Money magazine, Americans don’t want a white Christmas. By a 2-1 margin, they want sun and unseasonably mild temperatures.

In the national poll, 63% of respondents said they would rather surf than shovel compared with 35% who like it cold. The remaining 2% were undecided when it came to blizzard or bliss.

The poll also showed:

* 52% of single people want it warm, compared with 64% of marrieds.

* The richer you are, the warmer you want it. Respondents making more than $50,000 a year preferred warmth (65%). Less than $50,000, only 54% wanted warmth.

* Younger people were split on the issue. Over age 35, 70% wished it would snow. In the 18-34 age group, 50% wanted a warm Christmas, while 48% wanted it white. Oh, those crazy kids.
