TIMES STAFF WRITER

The Play’s the Thing: California residents under the age of 19 with a flair for the dramatic are invited to enter the 10th Annual California Young Playwrights Contest. The plays will be evaluated by professionals; winners will be produced by the national Playwrights Project in association with the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.

Scripts must be original and may be on any subject, in any style and form, but length is important: Scripts with fewer than 10 typed, double-spaced pages will not be evaluated.

Submissions should be typed, the pages numbered and bound securely. Include name, address, telephone number and date of birth on the title page and enclose a brief cover letter with some personal background and an explanation of how the play came to be. Scripts will not be returned, so send a copy and keep the original.
