A pilot program seizing the assets of parents who miss child support payments will be expanded from Los Angeles County to five more counties, state Controller Gray Davis said.

Under the program, the state Franchise Tax Board can attach the wages and assets of those who fail to make the payments. Between May and October, the program collected an extra $564,734 in support payments, Davis said.

The program will be started in Fresno, Nevada, Santa Clara, Solano and Ventura counties next year, he said .
