ORANGE : Man Sentenced for Tearing Down Sign

Share

A 36-year-old Orange man was ordered to perform 100 hours of volunteer service by a Municipal Court judge Wednesday afternoon after admitting he tore down a campaign sign on private property for Orange School District candidate Mara Brandman in October.

Judge Donna Crandall also sentenced Richard A. Elgenson to three years’ probation and ordered him to pay $25 to the California State Restitution Fund.

Elgenson told police that he removed the sign because he was tired of seeing all the political election signs posted everywhere and that he tore Brandman’s sign down because it was most offensive to him.

Brandman lost to Max Reissmueller in her bid for a seat on the Orange Unified school board in November.
