Nordskog to Shut Down, Cutting Out 164 Jobs

Nordskog Industries, a longtime airline galley maker based in Van Nuys, said it will shut for good Thursday, eliminating 164 local jobs.
The shutdown comes four months after Nordskog was sold to B. E. Aerospace of Wellington, Fla., for $17 million. Nordskog said B. E. Aerospace wanted to consolidate operations with facilities in Florida.
Privately held Nordskog was started in a Quonset hut in 1951 by Robert A. Nordskog, who died about a year ago.
About 20 workers will transfer to Florida, said Wade Worley, Nordskog’s top executive, who said he will remain at B. E. Aerospace for the interim.
