GTE Seeks to Reduce Workers’ Comp Costs

Share

GTE West Area and GTE California, both based in Thousand Oaks, hope to cut workers’ compensation costs by more than $4 million through a new program that includes increased safety precautions and fraud prevention.

As part of the campaign, GTE West is investing $1.6 million in such measures as workplace safety devices and a program that enables injured employees to work at alternative assignments if medically cleared.

GTE West, which is in the midst of a cost-cutting drive, pays more than $20 million annually in workers’ comp costs, according to spokesman Mike Murray.
