Nation IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : Fatal Bomb Suspects Held Without Bail

Michael Stevens and Earl Figley, who were arrested for a series of package bombings that killed three members of a family and two others upstate appeared in federal court in Rochester and were ordered held without bail. Scott Sammis, a federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau agent, testified in court that Figley admitted using an alias in Kentucky to buy the explosives used in the blast. Stevens, 53, and Figley, 56, are charged with transporting explosives across state lines to kill people. They could face the death penalty if convicted.
