Profits of Computer Printer Maker Drop

Printronix Inc.: The Irvine maker of computer printers posted a 46% decline in profit for the latest quarter. The company said it earned $325,000, or 10 cents a share, for its third quarter, which ended Dec. 24. That compared to a profit of $603,000, or 19 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales increased 18% to $28.2 million from $23.8 million. For the first nine months of its fiscal year, the company reported a profit of $952,000, or 29 cents a share, contrasted with a loss of $3.2 million, or $1.03 a share, for the corresponding period a year earlier. Nine-month sales gained 9% to $76.9 million from $70.6 million.
