REGION : 24-Hour Helpline Seeks Volunteers to Listen
Community Helpline is seeking volunteer listeners from the South Bay.
The 24-hour, seven-day-a-week confidential listening service receives about 2,200 calls monthly from throughout Los Angeles County concerning personal and family problems.
Volunteers help callers find their own solutions, often providing them with referrals.
The South Bay communication skills training course for volunteers begins Feb. 8. The 45-hour course will be 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteers may call (310) 541-2525 for the location.
