LOS ANGELES : Teller Machines Planned at 4 More Police Stations
- Share via
The Los Angeles City Council has agreed to install more automated teller machines in police stations in an effort to reduce robberies.
The lawmakers last year established two trial ATMs at police stations in the San Fernando Valley and South-Central Los Angeles after the murder of a pregnant woman near a Sherman Oaks teller machine. The council voted Tuesday to open money machines for the public at the 77th Street, Harbor Division and Wilshire Division stations and at the central police facility.
The Los Angeles Police Credit Union operates the teller machines, which are linked by computer with a variety of financial institutions. The Credit Union plans to open as many as 26 additional ATMs in police facilities.
