Nancy Reagan and the Best Foundation have joined forces in an expanded anti-drug program funded in part by a $1-million grant from the Nancy Reagan Foundation.

“I’m convinced that our new partnership will play an important role in the fight against drug abuse,” the former first lady said in a statement issued Wednesday in Los Angeles.

“As the Best name suggests, we will ‘Bring Everybody’s Strength Together’ and go head-to-head against this problem that continues to plague America,” the statement said.

The grant will broaden the reach of the Los Angeles-based Best Foundation’s video-based drug abuse prevention education programs to community-based youth organizations. The Best Foundation has provided low-cost or free drug prevention in all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces.

The Nancy Reagan Foundation, which began operation in January, 1989, has awarded more than $5.3 million to drug prevention and education organizations.
