COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Northridge Women Fall Short in Nevada

Forward Shannon Crouse scored 23 points but it wasn’t enough and Cal State Northridge (2-12) fell to Nevada, 59-53, in a women’s basketball game Thursday night at Reno, Nev.

Center Shelley Chatfield had 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Wolf Pack (3-7).

In other women’s games:

Glendale 66, Compton 40--Center Makela Theriault scored 19 points to lead the Vaqueros in a nonconference game at Glendale. Yvette Hassakouvsian scored her 12 points for Glendale on four three-point shots.

Ventura 65, Canyons 63--The Pirates overcame a 10-point deficit in the second half of the Western State Conference game. Julie Hardy led Ventura with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Valley 70, Santa Barbara 40--Forward Vonya Dangerfield scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Valley had 26 assists and shot 50% from the floor (31 of 62), both season highs.

Moorpark 64, Santa Monica 57--Janette Oriza had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Raiders in the Western State Conference game. Moorpark (8-10, 5-0) hit nine of 10 free throws down the stretch.

MEN

Ventura 76, Canyons 62--Joey Ramirez scored 20 points to lead the Pirates (23-1, 4-0) to a Western State Conference victory at Canyons. Ryan Camacho, Gene Barshtak and Kwesi Fulton each scored 14 for Canyons (6-13, 1-3).

Valley 62, Santa Barbara 61-- Kenneth Henry scored a layup with five seconds remaining to give host Valley the win.
