LOS ANGELES : Officials Move Closer to Alameda Corridor Accord
- Share via
Local officials announced progress Friday toward making final a long-debated plan for a $1.8-billion rail and truck corridor between Los Angeles Harbor and the Civic Center.
Major elements of the so-called Alameda Corridor project already have been approved, and officials say Southern Pacific Transportation Co. and the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach now have reached accord on details of an agreement allowing the sale of the railroad’s land for the corridor.
Included is a plan to help pay for the project by charging Southern Pacific and other railroads per-train fees for using the corridor.
