Ariz. Man Waives Right to Hearing
A Tucson man accused of killing two women in Arizona waived his right Friday to an extradition hearing in the case.
Robert Joseph Moody, 34, was arrested Jan. 5 after he walked up to a reception desk at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department saying he was suffering from amnesia.
A fingerprint search identified him as a Tucson resident suspected of killing two women in November. Moody was featured on the “America’s Most Wanted” television show in December.
Moody, who is being held without bail, appeared Friday in Santa Ana Municipal Court. His decision to waive his right to a formal extradition hearing is expected to speed his return to Arizona.
Deputy Public Defender Robert Knox, who is representing Moody, said Moody “just wants to get back to Arizona as soon as possible.” He added that his client still says he has amnesia.
The first killing occurred Nov. 15 when an acquaintance of Moody, Michelle Page Malone, 33, was found shot to death in her Tucson home.
The second victim, Patricia Magda, 56, a neighbor of Moody, was found beaten to death in her Tucson home about a week later.
