Man Receives 100-Year Prison Term for Shootings

A 21-year-old who sprayed rival players with bullets after a pick-up basketball game has been sentenced to 100 years in prison.

Derreck Monroe was convicted of four counts of attempted murder in the wounding of three men and a 17-year-old boy. Monroe, sentenced Thursday to 25 years on each count, will be eligible for parole in 50 years.
