A newspaper written by teens for teens will debut in mid-February as part of the Recreation and Parks Department’s New Youth Teen Program.

Teen Newspaper will give Beverly Hills youths an opportunity to learn firsthand about newspapers, said Dan Laray, senior recreation supervisor.

The free paper will be geared to the city’s 1,500 middle school and 1,900 high school students, and will be published twice this year and three times next year, Laray said.

The paper will include news, sports, movie reviews, events and cartoons. It will be distributed at Beverly Hills schools, La Cienega Recreation Center and the Beverly Hills Library.

The paper is one of several new activities organized for students in grades six through eight. Other activities include one-day ski trips, school dances and camping trips.
