Turkish, Pakistani Leaders to Visit War-Torn Bosnia
The prime ministers of Turkey and Pakistan will visit Sarajevo to call attention to the plight of the Bosnian people, it was announced Friday.
Turkish Prime Minister Tansu Ciller and Pakistani leader Benazir Bhutto will make the visit “as two concerned stateswomen and mothers,” a statement from Ciller’s office said.
No date was announced, but the trip is expected next week.
Turkey and Pakistan, which are predominantly Muslim, have supported the Muslims in Bosnia and lobbied for Western military intervention to stop the bloodshed.
