RETAIL : Karcher Children Thank Those Who Stood by Their Dad

Compiled by Greg Johnson / Times staff writer

Carl N. Karcher has always gotten by with a little help from his friends.

On Sunday, Karcher’s children held an informal “thank you” party for some friends and business associates who stood by the founder of the Carl’s Jr. fast-food chain during last year’s highly publicized dispute with the board and management of parent company Carl Karcher Enterprises.

In October, Karcher, 76, was voted out as Karcher Enterprises’ chairman during a bitter argument over the company’s strategic direction. He’s now negotiating a contract and will return to the company as chairman emeritus.
