Ram receivers coach Milt Jackson will meet with the Atlanta Falcons today to discuss taking a similar position with the staff of new Coach June Jones.

Jackson said the Rams granted the Falcons permission to talk to him. His contract with the Rams expires in February.

Jackson flew to Atlanta on Tuesday and will interview today with Jones and other team officials.

“We’re still in the talking stage,” Jackson said. “We haven’t reached a verbal agreement, but I know they are interested in hiring me.”

Jones, promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach on Jan. 24, didn’t retain receivers coach Jimmy Robinson from the staff of former head coach Jerry Glanville.

Jackson joined Ram Coach Chuck Knox’s staff for the 1992 season. He coached wide receivers at Indianapolis from 1989-91 and from 1986-88 at Houston, where he worked with Jones.

“June and I have been good friends for a long time,” Jackson said.
