Mexico Cuts Natural Gas Imports: As recently as last year, the country looked to be facing an ever-rising bill for natural gas imports, but it has slashed imports to zero and is even exporting some gas to the United States, officials say. Pemex, the state oil and gas monopoly, achieved the reduction partly by reducing its own use of natural gas. Down the road, Mexican demand is still expected to show strong growth, and Pemex’s ability to meet demand depends on tapping the country’s extensive resources and greatly boosting investment in the gas sector, according to officials.
