Honda to Sell Its Share of Rover: The Japanese auto maker was spurned last month in its attempt to raise its stake in Rover Group to nearly 50%, and Honda now says it will give up its current 20% holding in the British company. The likely buyer is BMW, which last month agreed to buy 80% of Rover from British Aerospace. Honda’s announcement came after officials of the three auto makers met in Tokyo. Honda, which had licensed technology to Rover and made engines for its vehicles, said it will also review its existing business projects with Rover. The two companies began working together in 1979, when Honda gave Rover license to produce its Ballade passenger car for the European market.
