CHICAGO —
A southbound towboat pulling 25 barges loaded with rock struck a Mississippi River bridge at Memphis, Tenn., in heavy fog, closing the bridge to railroad traffic, the Coast Guard said.
The collision early Monday closed the bridge for eight hours and it remained closed to rail traffic Monday morning, said U.S. Petty Officer Robert Nussbaumer.
No injuries were reported.
