LYNWOOD : Construction Plans for Birthing Center
Construction of an $18.8-million birthing center at St. Francis Medical Center will begin in September, hospital officials announced last week.
The center will have one an operating suite for post-delivery surgical procedures, 20 regular delivery rooms, two Cesarean delivery rooms, 72 beds and a nursery for 40 babies. It is expected to be completed by the end of 1996.
Funding for the 69,000-square-foot center comes from tax-exempt state bonds.
