Nuclear Projects to Be Postponed: The Japanese government will delay for at least 20 years a series of multibillion-dollar nuclear power projects, the New York Times reported. The projects would have greatly increased the world’s oversupply of plutonium, Japanese and U.S. officials said. The oversupply has aroused concerns that the material may be illegally confiscated by countries or terrorist groups hoping to produce nuclear weapons.
