ICY ATTITUDE? The Disney people paid big bucks to hook up with ice star Nancy Kerrigan. But “cranky” is how she was described when she got to Disney World in Florida on Monday. During the Disney parade she even said to Mickey himself, “this is so dumb.” Cable talk show host Tom Snyder replayed her comments and suggested: “Nancy, lighten up.” . . . Maybe she’ll be in a better mood when she gets to Orange County. Plans are still in the works for her first official Disneyland appearance, but she’s scheduled to skate on the ice at Anaheim Arena on July 1.

BIG TET: Organizers of the recent Tet Festival in Little Saigon had two goals: to give their community a meaningful celebration, and to raise enough money to do it all again next year. But last month, says spokesman Van T. Tran, “I think we made history.” . . . The festival made its largest profit, $100,000. Part will pay for next year’s event. And nearly half will be donated to local community groups.

UCI WANTED LIST: If you’d once made the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list, would you put it on your resume? Davis, a political author and UC Santa Cruz professor, is familiar with the UCI campus. She was a humanities lecturer and researcher there last quarter.

EASY AS PIE: How do you motivate youngsters to raise school funds? Larry Lebrecht, principal of the Christ Lutheran elementary school in Brea, came up with a gimmick that’s bound to be copied: Top fund-raiser would get to throw a whipped cream pie in his face. The excited students raised $12,958 in a jog-a-thon, enough for some much-needed computer equipment. . . . The amount was “totally unexpected,” says Roni Pinault, one of the organizers. It was her 9-year-old son, Robby, who raised the most--and got to throw the pie.
