Chrysler Gets Certification of Cherokees in Japan: The auto maker was awarded a blanket certification of its Cherokee vehicles by the Japanese government, enabling it to avoid one-by-one inspections of the cars sold in Japan, the Transport Ministry said. The U.S. auto industry has criticized the cost and paperwork involved in meeting Japanese certification standards, which a recent study found added 2.7% to 5.4% to the cost of Big Three cars sold in Japan.
