A man who shot to death five members of his family pleaded guilty but mentally ill Monday to five counts of murder.

George Hardebeck faces up to 300 years in prison when he is sentenced April 5.

Under the plea, Hardebeck will be able to receive treatment for mental illness while in prison.

State police said Hardebeck, 32, confessed to killing his 73-year-old mother, two brothers, his sister and her huband after a heated argument at the family farm.
