MOTOR SPORTS : Arenacross to Debut in Anaheim

Arenacross, an indoor version of motocross, will be introduced to the Southern California motor racing scene this weekend at Anaheim Arena.

Jimmy Gaddis, last year’s 125cc Western Regional motocross champion, and Pedro Gonzales, runner-up in the Anaheim Stadium motocross in January, are entered. Racing will begin at 7:30 tonight and Saturday with amateurs riding at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Other weekend racing:

MOTORCYCLES--The Glen Helen/Prairie Dog Grand Prix will be Saturday over a 12-mile course at Glen Helen Park in San Bernardino.

SPRINT CARS--Sprint Car Racing Assn. drivers will be at the Imperial County Fairgrounds in El Centro with IMCA modified stock cars Saturday night.

STOCK CARS--Cajon Speedway in El Cajon will open its season Saturday night with a 100-lap NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour event. . . . Sportsman and pro stocks will race Saturday night at Blythe Speedway.

MISCELLANY--More than 60 cars are expected Saturday for the ninth annual La Carrera Classic vintage Mexican road race. . . . Round 2 of the Polaris Jet Sports Grand Prix for watercraft is scheduled Saturday and Sunday at Long Beach Marine Stadium.
