HYDE PARK : Book and Bake Sale to Benefit Library

Share

Friends of the Hyde Park Branch Library will sponsor a baked goods and used book sale Saturday to raise funds for the library at 6527 Crenshaw Blvd.

Senior librarian Arthur Pond said the branch needs money for a variety of supplies and materials, including video and audio equipment. He said he particularly wants to attract guest artists, such as storytellers, to increase interest in the library in the community.

“You don’t really see (the library) going down Crenshaw at 45 miles an hour,” he said.

Pond added that more volunteers are urgently needed for the Friends group, which has dwindled to three members. “In general, we need more ongoing community support,” he said.
