Nissan to Replace Some Air Bags: Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 71,500 Maxima sedans sold in the United States and Canada to replace air bag sensors. The voluntary recall applies to 1992 and early 1993 model Maximas. The Japanese car maker said it will install an updated sensor that is less sensitive to minor underbody impacts, reducing the possibility that the air bag will deploy under such situations. A Nissan spokesman said 73 car owners reported air bag deployments when their cars’ underbodies struck curbs and other objects.
