In New York, the Secrets Are Out
The telephone company admits it may have goofed when it sent secret personal identification numbers in a promotional mailing to its 3 million credit card holders.
The mailing from Nynex was in the form of a folded card sealed at two corners. Inside each was a punch-out replica of a calling card, with the actual four-digit code for the addressee.
“Mine was delivered to me this morning and one corner had come open in the mail. You can pick it up and read the number inside!” said Richard Kessel, executive director of the state Consumer Protection Board.
