Firestone Tires to Roll Into Japan: Bridgestone Corp. said it will begin Japan sales of the tires, products of its onetime rival and now its largest subsidiary. The first Firestone tire to be sold in Japan will be the Firehawk 690, a radial passenger tire originally designed for the European market. Tokyo-based Bridgestone, which acquired Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in 1988, said Firestone tires will also re-enter Indianapolis car racing, including the Indianapolis 500, in 1995. Bridgestone-Firestone Inc., the U.S. subsidiary, is based in Nashville, Tenn.
