The first Firestone tire to be sold in Japan will be the Firehawk 690, a radial passenger tire originally designed for the European market. Tokyo-based Bridgestone, which acquired Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in 1988, said Firestone tires will also re-enter Indianapolis car racing, including the Indianapolis 500, in 1995. Bridgestone-Firestone Inc., the U.S. subsidiary, is based in Nashville, Tenn.
