All Geared Up for Their Workout

What do you wear to a Sweat-A-Thon?

Absorbent aerobic wear and a headband, as did many of the 125 exercise enthusiasts who participated in a three-hour fitness marathon at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa on Saturday to raise funds for AIDS research and patient care.

The event was part of the City of Hope National Medical Center’s annual fund-raiser that draws thousands of people to 120 sites around the nation to “Workout for Hope” and raise $2 million.

At the Orange Coast College gymnasium, participants labored over back-to-back 15-minute aerobic programs.

Many of the mostly female crowd dressed in a practical way to keep cool: shorts, tank tops and headbands.

Others, however, chose wild, fun outfits: peekaboo leotards, matching printed outfits for the layered look, and bikini briefs over bicycle shorts.
