Jobless Rate in Britain Declines: The figure fell to 9.7% in March from 9.8% in February, the Department of Employment reported. The March data shows that 2.72 million people were unemployed, about 30,000 less than in February. The drop was larger than economists had expected. With economic recovery under way, the unemployment decline has averaged about 28,000 a month over the past six months.
