HANCOCK PARK : Country Club Settles Discrimination Suit

Share

The Wilshire Country Club and a black employee who had worked in the club’s kitchen for 15 years averted a trial on the woman’s allegations of racial and sexual harassment and discrimination, agreeing instead on a confidential settlement, her attorney said.

Dan Stormer, the attorney for Margaret Inyama, said he could not reveal the terms of the settlement but did say that Inyama was pleased with the outcome.

Inyama, 51, claimed that from 1989 to 1992 her boss regularly peppered her with racial insults and lewd sexual remarks and, she alleged, once pushed her against a door, injuring her right shoulder and arm. Club officials denied the allegations when she filed her lawsuit last year.
