The National Day of Prayer will be observed Thursday throughout the county. The theme this year is “Heal Our Land.” The Orange County Coordinating Committee ’94 and LOVE, in the Name of Christ of Southern Orange County will have a program from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Plaza of the Flags square, behind the Santa Ana Courthouse, 700 Civic Center Drive West. The program will include worship services and readings from the Old and New Testaments. From noon to 2:30 p.m., there will be a prayer convocation, with churches and public officials from throughout the county participating.
As part of the countywide observance, “Concerts of Prayer” rallies will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the following churches: Victory Christian Center, 8932 Katella Ave., Anaheim; Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 5340 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim; Newport Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 102 E. Baker St., Costa Mesa; Garden Grove Friends Church, 12211 Magnolia Ave., Garden Grove; Community United Methodist Church, 6662 Heil Ave., Huntington Beach; La Habra Christian Church, 1400 Bella Vista Drive, La Habra Heights; Saddleback Community Church, 1 Saddleback Parkway, Lake Forest; First Southern Baptist Church, 840 N. Shattuck Place, Orange and Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, 2121 N. Grand Ave., Santa Ana.
As in past years, there will be a gathering at noon at the Costa Mesa City Hall flagpole, 77 Fair Drive.
Garden Grove area churches have planned a continental breakfast and prayer at the Garden Grove Community Center from 6:45 to 8 a.m. at 11300 Stanford Ave. Information: (714) 252-1035.
